Whatcom County fire officials have upgraded a fire safety burn ban in rural areas of the county beginning Wednesday, July 7.

Stage 1 fire safety burn bans are in effect in Skagit and Island counties.
During periods of high fire danger and hot, dry conditions, fire officials can call for bans on outdoor burning in unincorporated areas.
